¿Qué ropa necesita para un recién nacidos?

After several months away from blogging, I'm back! I'm returning to share some things you've asked me about, and I hope you'll find them interesting. Today's post is dedicated to a topic I find incredibly fun . And, as some of you already know, I have a bit of experience with it… So, let's get started: clothes for newborns?

Given the time of year, I'll focus on what babies need if they're born in spring or summer (don't worry, I'll do another one for winter). Obviously, every mother has her own preferences when it comes to baby clothes , so I encourage you to share yours so I can find out what you like best.

Batons and christening gowns by Rocío Fernández-Cotta.

As you may have noticed, I have a very classic style , and baby gowns are a must-have in my newborn wardrobe. I have to admit that I've used the long ones the most. I love them! But there comes a time when I'm dying to show off my baby's little legs. When they start getting chubby and just adorable, I swap the long gowns for short ones. And then it's time to show off those little legs!

I can assure you that, after four children, they're incredibly comfortable to use. They're very durable and always look good, whatever the weather. If it's chilly, you can slip a wool sweater underneath or add a cardigan on top. And when it gets warm, forget the accessories! They'll look great in just the bathrobe!

When I let my baby's legs show, I love using baby dresses, which are short gowns with matching diaper covers. They come in very cool, perforated linen versions, or more structured ones in piqué. For both types, my favorites are from Rocío Fernández-Cootta ( @rociofdezcotta_shop ) on Juan Pablos Street in Seville. Rocío also makes knitted items, so you can find all the finishing touches for your baby there for the new season.

Sophie's little frogs.

In any case, if we're talking about spring clothes for newborns , the top choice is the knitted cotton or fabric romper . Generally, I find them incredibly comfortable, as they can be worn with undershirts when it's cool or on their own when it's warm. It's true that when temperatures rise too much, I prefer not to use knitted ones. I feel they get too hot because they're so close to the baby's body, and I prefer to opt for other, more summery fabrics.

If you're looking for the most adorable outfits, don't hesitate to visit Sophie 's shop ( @sophiemodainfantil ) on Montecarmelo Street in Seville. In her shop, you can coordinate their rompers and playsuits with matching booties, bonnets, shirts, and cardigans. I also love the option to coordinate outfits for all siblings! Everything is so cute and thoughtfully designed. Sophie is known for her fun pastel color palette. Mustard, gray, green, and blush pink are the stars of this spring/summer 2019 season. I'm a huge Sophie fan!

Omini's cotton rompers.

Another item I use a lot this time of year is cotton rompers. Depending on the style, I wear them with or without a shirt underneath. If they're bib-style rompers, you can wear something underneath. There are also one-piece rompers, which cover the upper part of the baby's body, and I find these the most practical. That said, if it's really hot, bib-style rompers are better.

In my opinion, shirts aren't the most comfortable garments. They slip off the romper and keep getting kicked up. That's why I often replace them with these super comfy knitted rompers. Where can you find them? Well, besides the shops I recommended earlier, the girls at Omini ( @oministudio ) at C/ Muñoz Olive 7 (Seville) make really original and fun ones. If you want to surprise someone, Omini is the place to do it!

Zapaboo shoes.

And now it's time for feet! I love knitted booties and use them all the time. The brands we've talked about carry them, but if there's one thing I find truly comfortable, it's the Zapaboo ( @calzadoszapaboo ) booties. They just opened a store in Madrid at C/ Príncipe de Vergara, 66. Both Mary Janes and canvas shoes without soles, in a neutral color, seem to me the perfect and easiest-to-match accessory for our baby's first outfits. Plus, the booties don't fall off so easily, so the outfit will last the whole walk!

Bonnet, bib and muslin cloths, other necessary accessories.

To finish packing the little suitcase… As you know, my children always wear a bonnet . Not only because I like it, but I also think it completes their look, and if it's cold, it covers their ears and bald heads. It's a top accessory for the little ones!

To welcome your newborn, muslin cloths are another essential. I like them small, white, and soft. I use them to wipe away drool, dry their bottoms and scrunchies (not with the same cloth, of course), and put them under their bottles… In short, I use them for everything! And of course, a bib with an embroidered trim is a must to avoid unwanted stains. These should always be a light color, preferably white, so they match everything and always flatter the baby's face. As you can imagine, the best selection is in our shop. You're going to love Nait Nait bibs !

And yes, all the brands I've mentioned are run by women from Andalusia . They're friends and colleagues of mine who do an extraordinary job. They help me dress my children from birth, giving me their opinions and support in every decision I make. No one knows their clothes better than they do. So don't hesitate to ask them about your newborn clothing needs.

I hope this has been helpful. As always, I'll be here to listen and give you my feedback. Thanks for being there!
